Who you work with
Senior engineers, and you meet them before you sign
No principal-sells, juniors-deliver arrangement. The people on the discovery call are the people doing the work, and you know who they are before anything is agreed.
DevOps Chief is a Dubai-registered consultancy led by Samer Habash, with a bench of senior associate engineers brought in as engagements require. The work is grounded in running production systems rather than advising on them from a distance — which mostly shows up as a bias against designs that look elegant and are miserable to operate.
- Now
Lead DevOps engineer, large-scale betting and gaming platform
Tech lead for a DevOps group running production workloads on AWS and Kubernetes at consumer scale, where traffic is spiky and a bad deploy is visible immediately.
- Since 2018
DevOps and platform engineering
CI/CD at scale with Jenkins and GitOps tooling, AWS and GCP infrastructure, Kubernetes in production, and observability stacks built on Prometheus, Grafana and Datadog.
- From 2015
Systems and network operations
Started on the operations side — NOC, Linux systems, telephony infrastructure. It is the reason the advice here leans towards what a team can actually operate at 3am.
Working languages
English, Arabic and Hebrew — useful when an engagement spans Gulf and Israeli teams and the architecture conversation needs to happen in the room rather than through a translation layer.
Larger engagements
Some work needs more than one pair of hands, or a specialism outside the core six service lines. For those engagements the practice brings in associate engineers on a freelance basis — people with their own production track record in AWS architecture, multi-account governance and disaster recovery.
The arrangement is stated plainly up front: you will know before signing who is doing which part of the work, and the engineer you meet on the discovery call stays on the engagement throughout. Nobody is handed off to a delivery team they have never spoken to.
Where the practice is registered
DevOps Chief operates under an IFZA free-zone licence in Dubai, invoicing clients in the UAE, Israel, Europe and beyond. Contracting and invoicing details are straightforward — ask on the call.
